Happy National Hispanic Heritage Month! To celebrate, we're taking a minute to highlight and chat with our partners JZD - a Latina-owned lifestyle brand founded by Texas natives Jennifer Serrano and Veronica Vasquez. We're inspire by their mission to create products that build community and celebrate culture.
What’s your favorite part about running JZD?
Our favorite part of running JZD is getting to create for our community and working with our family! It's truly a dream to work with my parents and wife every single day.
What inspired you to create JZD?
JZD started out as an Etsy shop back in 2016 because we felt like we needed a reminder of our power. Our first successful product is the now iconic Latina Power Tee.
Where do you find your inspiration?
Our community! Everything that JZD does and every single item that we put out is with our community in mind. We love creating pieces that make our customers say “Wow! That’s me!” or “This reminds me of my abuela!”
What “dichos” is your favorite?
All time favorite forever and ever is, "no pasa nada." It's a dicho that has been with me my entire life and it has become a way of living.
What does being Latinx mean to you?
Being Latinx means celebrating our beautiful culture, languages, and histories that connect our diverse communities. It’s about honoring traditions, embracing the vibrancy of our heritage, and recognizing the challenges and resilience of our ancestors. It also means finding strength in our shared experiences while appreciating individual stories. Ultimately, it’s a commitment to cultural pride and a call for unity among all Latinx voices.
What’s next for JZD?
We are so excited to continue to grow our community! We also have some really exciting partnerships launching in 2025 that we cannot wait to share! Most importantly we plan to continue to empower our community and create products that represent us.
You can find pieces from their collection in our Color Shops onsite and online.
The color continues with our refreshed Color Factory New York neighborhood map! We’ve curated 10 more surprises for you across downtown Manhattan.
Get your aura read, take a bite out of a rainbow, or swing into the NYC sunset. Roam from one place to the next, discover surprises, and collect keepsakes—all at your own pace. About EnChroma Glasses:
EnChroma glasses use special optical filters that help the color blind see an expanded range of color and to see it more clearly, vibrantly and distinctly. The glasses are the product of two NIH research grants and clinical trials at UC Berkeley and UC Davis. Read this recent study by UC Davis on the effectiveness of our glasses. Importantly, the glasses are not a cure for color blindness and work for 8 out of 10 red-green color blind people. Results and reaction times vary. A color blind wearer must have all three of their “color cones” in the retina working properly to benefit.
Volunteers selected will be notified in advance.
BREAKING: USA TODAY readers have chosen Color Factory as the country's #1 immersive art experience in this year’s Readers’ Choice 10Best Awards.
USA TODAY’s 10Best helps readers travel smart by providing original, unbiased content that highlights the best of the best in a broad range of categories, from destinations and food, to hotels and things to do. Their Readers' Choice Awards nominees are submitted by USA TODAY’s panel of experts and then hand-selected by 10Best editors before being voted on by the public.
This year, Color Factory was included in the 10Best list of the most remarkable art experiences in the United States: the best art museums, sculpture parks, arts districts, small-town art scenes, and cities for street art. Not only that, but we won our category, and now are officially recognized as the USA’s best immersive art experience.

Color blindness affects over 13 million people in the US and about 4% of the population. Also known as color vision deficiency (CVD), it is a reduced ability to distinguish between colors when compared to the standard for normal human color vision. People with CVD usually have difficulty distinguishing between certain colors such as yellow and orange, green and brown, pink and gray, or blue and purple.
While people with normal color vision see over one million shades of color, those with color vision deficiency only see about 10% those hues and shades. As a result, their world view is dull and less vibrant, with some colors appearing muddled, muted, washed out or indistinguishable. To them, purple looks blue, red seems brown, gray appears pink, and green and yellow can look similar. The color blind can struggle to see the red in a flower, the variation of colors in a rainbow, a painting, the true hair or eye color of a loved one, red and green stoplights and more. In viewing artwork, the color blind may struggle to see some colors. In school, the condition can cause frustration and challenges in learning. Here are some examples of how the color blind see:
EnChroma glasses enable people to see an expanded range of clear, vibrant, distinct color and enjoy enhanced detail and depth perception.

This June, we partnered with designer Ry Macarayan on a custom illustration inspiring us to LIVE IN COLOR.
Ry is an illustrator and designer currently based in Seattle, WA. They are strategic in their work, often using clean and minimal forms, but is unafraid of bold colors, soft textures, and refreshing compositions. Their style is a perfect example of organic shapes living in a digital world.
“It means finding your people and seeing how enriching and powerful it is to be surrounded by community. It means living outside of binary structures taught to us and seeing how beautiful life can be when you are able to experiment, play, and find joy in being yourself."
This month we’re partnering with Mochi Kids! We’ve admired Amanda Stewart for a long time with her adorable, kid-friendly (and parent approved!) designs paired with her dedication to social responsibility. She has built her brand by lifting up other small businesses, sourcing and producing her line with a locally, female-owned manufacturer, and using her platform to raise awareness for issues important to her (and to all humans!) along the way. We think you and your kiddos will love these special pieces designed just for us in the Color Shop!
A celebration of the vibrant colors of the season, Color Factory’s springtime exhibit “Colors in Bloom” has been delighting visitors since February. But all good things must come to an end, and “Colors in Bloom” is no exception. This May marks the end of the exhibit, making it the last chance for guests to experience this one-of-a-kind display.
If you haven't had the chance to visit Color Factory yet, now is the time to do so. The exhibit is a sensory delight, featuring a series of rooms and installations that engage all of your senses.
The “Colors in Bloom” experience takes this sense of wonder and amplifies it with an explosion of springtime colors. The most unique feature of Color Factory's Colors in Bloom experience is the transformed confetti rooms. This installation is a fully immersive experience that simulates a blooming garden. As you step into the room, you are enveloped in a cloud of petals that dance around you, creating a magical atmosphere that feels like stepping into a fairytale.
If you're a fan of immersive art experiences, or simply looking for a unique and fun way to spend an afternoon, then the “Colors in Bloom” exhibit at Color Factory is not to be missed. But remember, time is running out! The exhibit is set to end this May, so make sure to book your tickets soon!
Color Factory is an interactive art exhibition that immerses visitors in a colorful world of creativity and fun. The exhibit is designed to celebrate the joy and wonder of color and features a variety of interactive installations, games, and activities that engage all the senses. Located in major cities across the United States, the Color Factory is a popular attraction that draws visitors of all ages and backgrounds. Each location features a unique set of installations that are designed to reflect the character and personality of the city in which it is located.
One of the most popular installations at the Color Factory is the giant ball pit filled with over 500,000 balls. Visitors can jump in and immerse themselves in the sea of color, and take photos to capture the fun and excitement of the moment. Another popular installation is the rainbow-colored ribbon room, where visitors can walk through a tunnel made of colorful ribbons and experience the sensation of being surrounded by color.
In addition to these installations, the Color Factory also features a variety of other interactive activities, including a “Chromaroma” wall that allows visitors to experience different scents, a color-matching game that challenges visitors to match colors to their corresponding objects, and a room filled with balloons that visitors can play with.
Throughout the exhibit, visitors are encouraged to play, explore, and have fun as they discover the many ways that color can inspire and delight the senses. The exhibit also features a gift shop where visitors can purchase souvenirs and mementos of their visit, including colorful t-shirts, stickers, and other merchandise.
Overall, the Color Factory is a vibrant and exciting celebration of color and creativity that offers visitors a unique and immersive experience unlike any other. Whether you're a fan of art, design, or simply love to play and explore, the Color Factory is sure to leave you feeling inspired and energized.
Grab your rhinestone cowboy boots and hit the (silent) disco dance floor! We’re bringing one of our most beloved installations to Color Factory Houston. “A Royal (Disco) Ball” is the newest attraction at our popular interactive art exhibit located in Upper Kirby.
Color Factory Houston has always been known for its visually stunning installations, but now visitors can also engage with the art in a new way: through dance! “A Royal (Disco) Ball” celebrates the greatest, Texas-born women artists of our time. That’s right, the QUEENS of the charts (and our hearts from) Selena and Megan Thee Stallion to Houston’s own Beyoncé and Lizzo!
Our all-purple palace is an ode to female empowerment and these hometown heroines. Don a pair of headphones, turn up the volume, channel your inner star, and dance until your heart goes “bidi bidi bom bom.”
But…the fun doesn't stop there! Try to spot the secret room hidden amidst the lavender hues. Inside, you'll discover a fun surprise that will make your day a little brighter.
Visitors to the Houston Color Factory are encouraged to wear comfortable shoes and clothing, as the dance floor is meant to be an active space. The exhibit is also open to all ages, making it a fun activity for families and friends.

We’re excited to begin to announce our artist features for our Chicago location, coming late this Spring. In our new lobby, we’re working with Puerto-Rican born and Chicago-based artist @edrasoto to display our city color palette in a fresh way. Edra is creating a site-specific iteration of her GRAFT series: guests will peer through viewfinders in the installation to discover the photos that inspired each color in the palette.
The artist has attended residency programs at Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture, Beta-Local, the Robert Rauschenberg Foundation Residency, Headlands Center for the Arts, Project Row Houses and Art Omi, among others. Soto has been awarded the Efroymson Contemporary Arts Fellowship, the Illinois Arts Council Agency Fellowship, the inaugural Foundwork Artist Prize and the Joan Mitchell Foundation Painters & Sculptors Grant, among others. Between 2019-2020, Soto exhibited and traveled to Brazil, Puerto Rico, and Cuba as part of the MacArthur Foundation’s International Connections Fund. Soto holds an MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and a bachelor’s degree from Escuela de Artes Plásticas y Diseño de Puerto Rico. The artist lives and works in Chicago.
We can’t wait to see Soto’s work come to life at Color Factory Chicago!

We couldn’t have done it without you! Here are just a few of the exciting things that colored 2021 for us:
1. Through Rose-Colored Glasses , Houston
We worked with Ainsley Rose Romero & Eric Friedensohn to create an experience that invites you to slip on a pair of rose-colored glasses and look around to find that there’s so much more in life to appreciate, if you just take a moment to shift your perspective.
2. Eataly Downtown X Color Factory
Color Factory partnered with Eataly Downtown to bring joy and color to New Yorkers as we all emerged from a difficult year. Artist HOTTEA created a sweeping installation of hand cut yarn to capture the colors of dawn in two cities close to Eataly’s heart – Torino, Italy and New York City.
Eataly and Color Factory lit up The Oculus in the colors of HOTTEA’s installation, sharing our stunning sky-inspired palette with all of downtown Manhattan.
4. All That Shimmers, Houston
The immersive installation from artist Rachel B. Hayes features a palette of jewel tones that sparkle in the sunlight. As light shines through the translucent panels of this site-specific piece, colorful beams bathe our Houston space in precious hues.
5. New in New York
Color Factory New York got a fresh look in 2021 with a new lobby showcasing our NYC color palette, a Central-Park-inspired confetti room that changes colors every eason, and our Silence is Golden dance party experience featuring a playlist from Brookyn’s own Spinderella.
