FAQs

Is each Color Factory location the same?

Each location includes a unique mix of site-specific installations, fan favorites, collaborations with artists and creatives, and partnerships with local nonprofits and small businesses we love.

How long does it take to go through Color Factory?

It varies for each guest, but visits usually last about 1 hour to 1.5 hours. You can extend your experience beyond Color Factory with our free Color Map, available digitally at the end of your visit. Our map guides you through the city to discover even more colorful surprises in your favorite neighborhoods.

Is the exhibit self-guided?

Yes! And, you can take your time going through each room. However, we ask that you don’t revisit any areas you’ve already passed through. (One-way only!)

What should I bring?

Along with your curiosity about color, you must bring your ticket QR code (and someone 16 years old or older, if you are under 16 years old).

Where should I park?

CHICAGO: Discounted parking is available at Traders Self-Park (326 S. Wells / 329 S. Franklin) and Tower Self-Park Garage (211 W. Adams / 241 S. Franklin). Validation is available at Coat Check in Color Factory’s lobby.

HOUSTON: We strongly encourage you to take advantage of the paid public parking garage conveniently located directly across from us at the Kirby Collection building. Please follow all parking garage signage and use the self park option which is located on the 2nd floor and above. We do not validate parking. If you choose not to utilize this option, please read local parking signage closely. Color Factory is not responsible for towed vehicles.

What if the photos from my visit aren’t emailed to me?

First, double check that you’ve registered your QR code. If you still have it from your visit, scan the QR with your phone camera and complete the registration process. You’ll receive your photos once your registration is complete! If that doesn’t work, be sure to check your spam or junk folder. If you still can’t find your photos, email support@colorfactory.co with your name, the location you visited, an image of yourself, the photo card QR Code, and the email address you used to register your card. Unfortunately, employees onsite at our locations are unable to retrieve lost photos.

Is Color Factory ADA compliant?

Yes, Color Factory is ADA compliant and most installations are ADA-friendly. However, our Ball Pits may not be accessible to all. Guests must be able to enter and exit the ball pit on their own.

Can I bring a stroller?

Strollers are not permitted in the exhibit due to some intimate layouts and tight spaces. We provide stroller storage in our lobby (strollers must be folded).

Yes, bathrooms are available on-site.

Do you have gift cards available?

Can I give my ticket to someone else?

PLEASE NOTE: Tickets are non-refundable. However, we are happy to transfer them to another name as long as you make the request 48 hours before your visit. If you feel sick, contact us at support@colorfactory.co so we can reschedule your tickets for another date.

What happens if I buy four tickets but someone from my group can’t make it?

Revealing clothing that exposes indecent or excessive portions of skin and may be viewed as inappropriate for a family environment

Clothing and/or visible tattoos with objectionable material (including obscene, sexual, violent, racist, discriminatory, or political language or graphics)

Are there any rules about taking photos?

We encourage you to take as many photos as you like! However, please be considerate of others enjoying the exhibit as well as our staff members. Tripods, external flashes and lights, excessive props, commercial or product shoots, media shoots, press interviews, and all professional video equipment are prohibited without advance approval and accompaniment from a Color Factory representative. Contact us through our events page for requests. We’ve integrated photo booth stations throughout our space to give you the ability to put your phone away so that you can fully appreciate the exhibits. Please note: despite our best efforts to keep these cameras & lenses clean, operational, and calibrated correctly, we do experience equipment failure from time to time. We can’t guarantee every photo station’s equipment at any given moment, so if you are worried about getting a particular shot, please make sure to capture it on your personal camera, as well.

What if I’ve lost something in an exhibit?

Please hold on to your hats (and cell phones)! Color Factory is not responsible for missing items. While we do have a lost and found, we cannot guarantee that your missing item will be located. Please contact support@colorfactory.co for more details.
